Sophia Banks defined herself as a director with an award-winning short film created for Christian Siriano. Making It On Time features women wearing Siriano’s couture gowns skateboarding through the moody streets and industrial back alleys of Downtown Los Angeles. This short film was nominated for over 15 awards including Best Short, Best Fashion Film, and Best Director at film festivals around the world. The Oscar-Qualifying HollyShorts Film Festival officially selected Making It On Time for Best Short. It won Best Fashion Short at the Miami Film Fest in July 2017 and it was named Best Fashion Film at the Milano Fashion Film Festival.

Sophia’s background in fashion lends itself beautifully to her body of work that’s both stylish and on point with current trends. Her fashion expertise also made for a natural and seamless segue into beauty which can be seen in some of her beauty work for Rimmel London and Charlotte Tilbury Cosmetics.

Cinderella, her fashion film for GenLux Magazine, was nominated and shortlisted in the Berlin Fashion Film Festival 2017 for Best Director. Her musically inspired and fashion driven piece for Pam & Gela, the trendy women’s clothing line, features colorful graphic animations and was created exclusively for a digital billboard in Times Square sending the company’s sales through the roof overnight.

Her most recent work includes spots and content for Pepsi, Ford & Target. The spot for Target, called Cheeky, won Best Commercial at the LA Film Awards 2017 and Sophia was honored as Best Director at the TMC London Film Festival in August 2017.

Originally from Australia, Sophia has called Los Angeles home for the last 7 years.
